Tips & Requests

Generally, we try to tackle things category by category, so people can compare items against one another.

Please feel free to leave comments below to suggest new categories that you want us to investigate.  You can also suggest new and different products for us to research as part of an existing category.

I’ve spent a crazy amount of time pulling together some of the coolest American made products I could find, but trying to source a good selection of stylish shoes has been one of my greatest challenges. Any suggestions?

I think that’s a really tough one Bree. So far we’ve hit on a few things like Alden shoes in our weekend video, but we generally try to avoid “fashion” items like shoes because they are less interchangeable than other types of products. For example, if someone wants X crayons, but is presented with Y crayons that are more American-made, most people wouldn’t have a problem exchanging them. But if someone wants A boots, but is presented with B boots instead, many people would find the boots to be less interchangeable and thus less actionable.

If you want to just start from American-made and look at what’s available, I’d recommend you poke around the directory with our friends over at http://www.americanmadeeverything.com. If you look around there are also several other “database” websites around.
