Weekend Video: Forest City Gear

9 Sep

If you haven’t heard, we have a nuclear-powered SUV-sized robot driving around on the surface of Mars named Curiosity (awesome!).  And if you haven’t heard about the feat of engineering that went into safely landing the rover on the planet, you definitely need to check out NASA’s video Seven Minutes of Terror.

It turns out that all the gears for the Curiosity mission were cut by Forest City Gear in Rockford, Illinois.  Rockford is doing a series of videos about their town, so we get to meet this team that helped make landing on Mars possible.

Our weekend videos often focus on processes, but it’s nice to see the people driving those processes too.
